Henry Atkinson, born in Patrington, married Louisa Shucksmith and bought White Barn Farm in 1908.

Henry Shucksmith was the 4th child of Joseph Shucksmith (1782-1865) and Jane Shucksmith (née White) (1785-1855). He lived in Alvingham as a cordwainer and later, as a shoemaker and farmer.

Henry Shucksmith grew up on White Barn Farm in Alvingham and went on to become a surgeon at Leeds Hospital. The following documents include his memoirs, which recount life on the farm growing up, his application for the post of honorary surgeon at Leeds Hospital as well as accounts from his colleagues which reflect on his life as a surgeon.

Maureen Elizabeth (Molly) Shucksmith 1928-2019

Maureen Elizabeth (Molly) Shucksmith was born in Louth and married Alvingham farmer, Philip Shucksmith, in 1949 and they had four children. She dedicated her life to her family and to music, conducting local choirs and teaching piano for 77 years.
